Ravensthorpe Western Australia

16/08/2009 - Structural Reform

Like all local governments we were shocked to learn at Local Government Week that resource sharing is no longer enough for the State Govt. reform process and if we didn't start the process of amalgamation our funding was in grave danger of being cut by both state and federal govt. So much for voluntary amalgamation! The Shire of Ravensthorpe is looking to the west (Jerramungup & Gnowangerup) and to the east (Esperance) and considering which way is the most appropriate. Local Govt. has been given an extra month to put in submissions (deadline 30th Sept.) and all authorities are considering their options.
